St. Louis Fed Announces Promotions and Appointment

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis announced the following promotions:

James B. Bullard has been promoted to vice president in the St. Louis Fed's Research Division. In his new position, Bullard oversees the division's macroeconomics research group. Bullard joined the St. Louis Fed in 1990. He has a bachelor of arts degree from St. Cloud University and a doctorate in economics from Indiana University.

Edward Nelson joined the St. Louis Fed as a research officer in the Research Division. His most recent position was research advisor to the Bank of England's monetary policy committee. A native of Australia, Nelson has a bachelor of economics from the University of Sydney, and master's and doctoral degrees in economics from Carnegie Mellon University.

Sue Gerker has been promoted to assistant vice president in the St. Louis Fed's Supervision & Regulation Division. Gerker oversees the Reserve Bank's Center for Online Learning. She has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Truman State University and a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Paul Helmich has been promoted to assistant vice president in Treasury Relations and Systems Support. He has a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Missouri at Columbia and a master of science degree in management information systems from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.

Harriet Siering has been promoted to assistant vice president in Treasury Relations and Systems Support. She has studied at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and Lindenwood College. In 2000 the Secretary of the U.S. Treasury awarded Siering the Secretary's Certificate for her contribution to "effective and efficient operation of the Department of the Treasury."

Kathy Reckert was promoted to operations officer in the Treasury Relations Support Office. She is responsible for the development, implementation and operation of the "Central Reporting System," a new initiative with the U.S. Treasury. She has a bachelor of arts degree in management from Webster University.

With branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis serves the Eighth Federal Reserve District, which includes all of Arkansas, eastern Missouri, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, western Kentucky, western Tennessee and northern Mississippi. The St. Louis Fed is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise the Federal Reserve System. As the nation's central bank, the Federal Reserve System formulates U.S. monetary policy, regulates state-chartered member banks and bank holding companies, and provides payment services to financial institutions and the U.S. government.
