Metcalfe Named Chair, Jackson Named Deputy Chair of St. Louis
Fed Board
ST. LOUIS —The Board of Governors of the Federal
Reserve System in Washington, D.C., has appointed Walter L. Metcalfe,
Jr., as chair and Gayle P.W. Jackson as deputy chair of the board
of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Metcalfe
is chairman of the law firm of Bryan Cave LLP and Jackson is managing
director of FondElec Clean Energy Group, Inc.
Metcalfe also serves on the boards of trustees of Washington University
in St. Louis, the Danforth Foundation and the Pulitzer Foundation
for the Arts, and is a member of the boards of directors of St.
Louis Children's Hospital and the Regional Chamber and Growth Association
of St. Louis. Bryan Cave ranks among the 35 largest law firms in
the world, with more than 800 lawyers located in 15 offices around
the world.
Jackson is also a director of the Research Corporation, a former
director for the SSM Health Care Corporation's central region, a
member of the Missouri Venture Forum, a trustee of Smith College
and a former trustee of Webster University. Founded in 2002, FondElec
is a global private equity firm with more than $100 million of investment
capital.
With branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis, the Federal
Reserve Bank of St. Louis serves the Eighth Federal Reserve District,
which includes all of Arkansas, eastern Missouri, southern Indiana,
southern Illinois, western Kentucky, western Tennessee and northern
Mississippi. The St. Louis Fed is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks
that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise
the Federal Reserve System. As the nation's central bank, the Federal
Reserve System formulates U.S. monetary policy, regulates state-chartered
member banks and bank holding companies, and provides payment services
to financial institutions and the U.S. government
