Robert Young Appointed to St. Louis Fed's Little Rock Branch Board
ST. LOUIS, Mo.— Robert A. Young III, chairman,
president and CEO of Arkansas Best Corporation in Fort Smith, Ark.,
has been appointed by the executive committee of the Federal Reserve
Bank of St. Louis' board of directors to fill an unexpired term
on the Reserve Bank's Little Rock Branch board. The term will end
Dec. 31, 2005.
Young is also a vice president at large for the American Trucking
Associations, a member of the boards of trustees of Lyon College
in Batesville and the Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith,
and a member of the boards of directors of the Fort Smith Chamber
of Commerce and the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club.
With branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis, the Federal
Reserve Bank of St. Louis serves the Eighth Federal Reserve District,
which includes all of Arkansas, eastern Missouri, southern Indiana,
southern Illinois, western Kentucky, western Tennessee and northern
Mississippi. The St. Louis Fed is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks
that, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., comprise
the Federal Reserve System. As the nation's central bank, the Federal
Reserve System formulates U.S. monetary policy, regulates state-chartered
member banks and bank holding companies, and provides payment services
to financial institutions and the U.S. government.
